Roy lab hosted Claire Cizdziel from Oxford High School and Abigail Moeller from Excelsior Classical this summer for 4 weeks. Claire and Abigail learned different techniques in organic chemistry and concepts of fluorination and medicinal chemistry during these 4 weeks.
Matt Saucier, an undergraduate researcher in the Roy Laboratory, won the Distinguished Senior Scholarship given out to only 25 University of Mississippi seniors each year.
Congratulations to Dr. Sampad Jana for winning the Ron Bourne outstanding postdoctoral poster presentation award at the MALTO meeting held at University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) College of Pharmacy. http://uthsc.edu/pharmacy/malto/registration.php
Micah Stewart, a junior majoring in biochemistry, joins the Roy Laboratory to pursue his honors thesis in fluorine chemistry!
Ryan recently graduated from the University of Mississippi with a B.S. in Forensic Chemistry. Prior to joining the PhD program, he had the pleasure of working as an Associate R&D Chemist in the lab of Drs. Deborah Gochfeld and Marc Slattery, analyzing the biochemical composition of Caribbean sea sponges. Welcome, Ryan! We are excited to have you on board!
The Roy lab is excited to welcome Tomayo Berida from the University of Ibadan in Nigeria ! He has a Masters degree in pharmacognosy and research experience in isolation and characterization of natural products with anti-infective properties. Hope you have a productive journey as a part of Ole Miss School of Pharmacy in the Department of BioMolecular Sciences.
Two high school students, Likhitha Polepalli and Sarena Patel, from The Mississippi School of Mathematics and Science (MSMS) participated in a 4 week summer research program at the Roy Laboratory through the University of Mississippi ARISE program (http://arise.olemiss.edu/). Likhitha and Sarena worked with the members of the Roy Laboratory on the flourine project learning about the techniques in organic synthesis. Wish you all the best in you future career in
Jay is an early entry PharmD student and will be spending the summer working on the fluorine project.
Welcome, Shamba…hope you enjoy your journey in the Roy lab!
